A city full of monuments
Once upon a time Middelburg had the most historical buildings, after Amsterdam. During the VOC era, Middelburg was one of the most important cities in the Netherlands. In the town center of Middelburg you can still see buildings that remind you of this golden age. Currently, you'll still find over 1100 monuments in the inner city.
You can truly go to Middelburg for everything! From museum to shopping street to one of the terraces for a lunch break or dinner. The area at and around the Markt in the town center is especially fun because of the bars and restaurants.
